HIKE TO KELISTADI LAKE
Route to Kelitsadi Lake takes you through a Barren, harsh & stony, yet extremely beautiful and colorful landscapes of Keli volcanic plateau. Starting at picturesque Truso Valley, (which you will explore on the 1st day of the tour by 4 x 4 vehicle) this challenging trail follows one of the hardest and highest mountain passes in Georgia, Khorisari pass, provides good opportunity to top mt. Khorisari (3736 m) as well as mt. Sherkhota. (3694 m) And with a bit of luck with the weather, from both peaks you will have a breathtaking panoramic view on the Keli Plateau, Mt. kazbegi (Mkinvartsveri) and the whole Eastern part of Great Caucasus.
Kelitsadi lake itself is quite a big and impressive Crescent-shaped glacial lake located at 3081 m. It gives birth to White Aragvi river, and offers the hikers its cozy, meadowy shores for pleasant camping experience.
Day 1: Tbilisi – Ananuri - Truso Valley – Keli Plateau
Pick up by 4x4 vehicle, exploring Truso Valley, Starting a hike at the village Kvemo Okrokana, Campsite at Keli Plateau. (AKA “Heaven Campground.”)
Day 2: Keli Plateau – Mt. Khorisar – Kelitsadi Lake
